Kuldra, the many-headed God-Eater, rising from green crystals under an aurora-lit sky

The short version

  • Out of Early Access and on consoles: PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2, alongside PC on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Jagex Launcher.
  • Crossplay for player-hosted worlds and dedicated servers, plus invite codes.
  • A new region, the Scorned Wilderness, and the end-game boss Kuldra, the God-Eater.
  • Rune, Dragon and Ancestral gear, Magic bows, wands, and new ores and wood.
  • Combat reworked around a special attack bar, parries that refill stamina, and attacks you can cancel.

Consoles, crossplay and invite codes

1.0 brought Dragonwilds to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. On PC it's on Steam, the Epic Games Store and the Jagex Launcher.

  • Crossplay is a setting on each world: switch it on when you load the world, and it appears in the world browser for players on other platforms. Dedicated servers have the same option.
  • Invite codes are the quick way to join a friend. The code shows in the host's pause menu, and you enter it in the world browser.

The Scorned Wilderness and Kuldra

The new region comes in two parts: a hub where you can build, and a Raid area where building is switched off. Repeated successful runs through the Raid are how you earn Dragon armour.

At the end of the story waits Kuldra, the God-Eater, the game's final boss, tied to the new Regicide quest. Beating her rewards a Dragon shield and a cape.

New enemies arrived with the region, including Black Dragons, Black Knight Crusaders, Blazing Black Knights, Stormpact Demons, Garou Lightning Berserkers, Rotsworn Reanimators and several goblin and skeleton variants.

AncestralMagicHat, robe top, robe bottoms, wand and staff

Wands are a new magic weapon type. They hit for less than a staff but are quicker and let you move more freely. They also build up knockdown with Air magic, burn with Fire magic and slow with Water magic.

New resources come with the new tiers:

  • Runite ore and luminite ore: need an adamant pickaxe or better.
  • Magic wood: needs a rune logging axe or better. Our woodcutting guide covers magic trees.
  • Crafting materials such as black dragon hide, runic powder, ground dragon tooth, vis fibers and vis cloth. The vis materials are made on the new Advanced Spinning Wheel.

Combat changes

Combat had the biggest rework at 1.0:

  • Special attack bar: special attacks now use up part of a bar that refills slowly. They hit harder, but you can't use them as often.
  • Parry: a successful parry restores half your maximum stamina and opens an optional Visceral Attack.
  • Cancelling: dodge or block to cancel an attack, gathering or a spell cast. Some spells can now be cast on the move.
  • Spell wheel: the first four spells on the radial menu get their own shortcuts, and you can reorder them in the Spellbook.
  • Controller layout: the primary attack moved to R1/RB/R, with special attacks on R2/RT/ZR.
  • Camera: a dead zone in the middle third of the screen gives you more freedom to move without the camera following.
  • Leggings of Lightness lost Feather Fall, but Windstep now costs no runes while you wear them. Dire Wolves and the Garou of Ghornfell hit slightly less hard.

Building, menus and moderation

  • Large builds load much faster thanks to a new loading system.
  • Menus got scrollable tooltips, a collapsible quest sidebar, lodestones on the map and tooltips on map icons.
  • You can now report worlds, players, griefers and cheaters. Reports are reviewed by people, not bots, and can lead to temporary bans.
  • Jagex says 2,665 bugs were fixed while preparing 1.0 and the console launch.

Game looks washed out on a TV?

Some smart TVs force HDR or a "Game" picture mode. Jagex suggests turning down Contrast, Colour and any Contrast Enhancer setting on the TV.
