Dragonwilds 1.0.1 update: jump attacks, 40 inventory slots and save fixes
The first big patch since the 1.0 launch tackles lost saves, adds a jump attack and ranged special attacks, and finally gives you more bag space. Here's everything that changed and what it means for your game.
- Version 1.0.1
- Released
- Jagex's name for it Eye on Ashenfall
The short version
- Save fixes for disappearing worlds, plus a catch-up for players whose character save was corrupted.
- A new Jump Attack: dive down onto enemies from above.
- Ranged gets special attacks for each bow type, arrow recovery and a slowing perk.
- Inventory goes from 32 to 40 slots, with new sorting options and separate ring and amulet slots.
- Enemies chase you less far and stay dead longer. Rune ammo now beats adamant, and the Amulet of Glory has been toned down.
Save fixes
Lost saves have been the biggest complaint since 1.0, and Jagex put them at the top of this patch. 1.0.1 includes fixes aimed at world saves that vanished.
If your character save was corrupted, there's now a catch-up: you can rejoin with combined stats and Tier 4 gear, rather than starting again from nothing.
Not fully solved yet
Jagex says a very small number of players may still run into other save problems, and it's still gathering data on them. Keep a backup of your save folder if your platform lets you.
The Jump Attack
The new Jump Attack lets you dive at an enemy from above. It kicks in when you're slightly higher off the ground than the top of a double jump: attack, and your character plunges downwards. Damage scales with the weapon you're holding, and Windstep counts too.
It's unlocked by a Skill Tree perk called Death From Above! Jagex's post doesn't say which skill tree or level it sits at; we'll add that once the wiki confirms it.
Ranged special attacks and perks
Each bow type now has its own special attack, so your choice of shortbow, longbow or crossbow matters more than raw damage.
| Weapon | Special attack | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Shortbow | Rapid Fire | Step back and loose three quick arrows. You can switch targets mid-volley to spread the damage. |
| Longbow | Power Shot | Kneel and draw a full-strength arrow for a long-range shot that staggers. |
| Crossbow | Heavy Bolt | Charge up a heavy bolt that applies its enchanted effect when it hits. |
There are three new Ranged perks as well:
- Ammo Recovery: a chance to get arrows back from enemies you kill. Greater Ammo Recovery, further along the Skill Tree, improves it.
- Low Blow: hitting an enemy in the legs applies Hamstrung, which slows it for a short time. Tiny and Colossal enemies are immune.
Ammo got a boost too: rune arrows and bolts now deal 4.9× damage, which finally puts them ahead of adamant's 4.2×.
Inventory and menus
The headline change: inventory space goes from 32 to 40 slots. Rings and amulets also get dedicated equipment slots, so they no longer take up room elsewhere. Jagex credited community members for suggesting it.
Sorting has three new modes:
| Sort by | Order |
|---|---|
| Weight | Heaviest stacks first, using the stack's total weight |
| Type | Item categories in alphabetical order |
| Latest | The items you picked up most recently first |
- A Completed Quests tab, with a short summary of how each quest ended.
- A setting to turn off the camera change during Visceral Attacks.
- Fixes for the Skills menu, the Journal and other screens (see bug fixes).
Enemies and the world
- Shorter aggro range across the game, so you're no longer dragging long trains of enemies behind you.
- Longer respawn timers: areas you've cleared stay clear for longer.
- In the Scorned Wilderness Raid, obstacles and enemies now come back when the raid resets or on your next run.
- Mining nodes have been tidied up so every one sits above ground and can be mined.
- Agility Course icons only show on the map once you're close to them.
- Reputation at Alcarrid's Camp now builds up gradually, instead of jumping to level 4 once you finish every quest.
- Goblins sound a bit less panicked, and some Windstep shortcuts in the Scorned Wilderness have been closed.
Item and balance changes
| Item or spell | Change |
|---|---|
| Rune arrows and bolts | Buffed 4.9× damage, now above adamant (4.2×) |
| Amulet of Glory | Nerfed Bonuses lowered to what Jagex intended; no new figures given |
| Divine Rock | Fixed Cooldown corrected from 1,500 to 1,800 seconds (30 minutes) |
| Fishing cape | Fixed Now shows its perk: a small chance to catch a fish instantly |
| Ultra Compost Bin | New Level 69: makes ultra compost (×2.5 yield, ×0.125 disease chance) |
| Large Compost Bucket | New A compost bucket that holds more |
| Humidify | Fixed Now works on yew plots like other farming plots |
| Overdrive | Changed Can now be cast on the Advanced Spinning Wheel |
| Air magic and Enfeeble | Changed Air magic range and Enfeeble's damage reduction adjusted |
Crafting is a little smoother too: bulk crafting resets its ingredient count properly, and adding several items to a station no longer throws you back to your inventory each time.
Controls and accessibility
- The UI Scaling option is now available on every platform.
- Controller players can sort chests with L3/LS, and PS5 players can now see which button sorts a chest.
- Ranged special attacks make the controller vibrate.
- A handful of keybinds can no longer be changed, because rebinding them could leave players stuck. These include Remove Spell, Cancel Building, Quick Interact, the conversation controls and the crafting tab switches.
Multiplayer and servers
- Hosts no longer unlock achievements earned by other players in their world.
- PC players with emojis in their names can now join worlds hosted on PS5 and Xbox.
- Dedicated servers: foundations and floors can be placed again where one was destroyed, and server sorting gives consistent results.
- Epic Games Store players can now see dedicated servers they've joined before.
Bug fixes worth knowing
The full list is long; these are the ones most likely to affect you.
- Stuck quests: picking up quest items early in multiplayer no longer blocks progress. For example, Imaru's Head no longer stops you moving on in Fellhollow.
- Crashes and freezes: choosing Online play while offline no longer crashes, and keyboards no longer freeze after teleporting.
- Bosses: Fuzan no longer goes passive or gets back up after dying. The Black Knight Titan's barrier now blocks magic, and Blue Dragon damage at different heights is fixed.
- Achievements: Regicide (Kuldra) and Strike True unlock properly again.
- Capes: the Artisan and Construction cape effects now trigger.
- Little things: rain no longer falls indoors, maple sap is lost on death, and Jagex Launcher players can no longer claim more than one bed.
What it means for our guides
- Farming guide: now covers the Ultra Compost Bin (level 69, ×2.5 yield), the Large Compost Bucket and Humidify working on yew plots. Both farming calculators include ultra compost too.
- Fishing guide: the Fishing cape's instant-catch perk now works as described.
- Beginner's guide: 40 inventory slots means fewer trips back to base early on.
Dragonwilds 1.0.1 FAQ
When did the 1.0.1 update come out?
Jagex published the patch notes on 14 October 2026.
How many inventory slots are there now?
40, up from 32. Rings and amulets also have their own slots.

Is rune ammo better than adamant now?
Yes. Rune arrows and bolts now deal 4.9× damage against adamant's 4.2×.
Will 1.0.1 fix my lost save?
It fixes the main causes of disappearing worlds, and a corrupted character can rejoin with combined stats and Tier 4 gear. Jagex says a small number of players may still have other save issues.
