Setup
Crops grow best in their own region's plot; other plots are more disease-prone.
Expected seeds returned per plot vs. Farming level
Dashed line = 1 seed per plot (break-even). Uses your current gear settings; level-locked gear is applied from level 1 for comparison.

Dragonwilds farming: common questions
How do I stop running out of seeds?
Every crop you harvest has a chance to return a seed. That chance is +0.3% per Farming level above 1 (29.4% at level 99), so each plot needs enough crops that the expected seeds back reach at least 1. Better yield from secateurs, compost and water lowers the level you need.
How is Dragonwilds harvest yield calculated?
Base yield is 5 crops (3 for flax, corpse cotton, desert weed and the cacti). It is multiplied in turn by iron secateurs (1.25), compost (1.5) or super compost (1.75), and water (1.15), rounding up at each step. The maximum is 15 crops per plot, or 9 for the low-yield crops.
Which Farming levels unlock the best gear?
The compost bin and bucket unlock at level 10, iron secateurs at level 42 and the super compost bin at level 60.
How accurate is this calculator?
Yield, disease chances and seed recovery come from the RuneScape: Dragonwilds wiki and in-game Farming values. Results are averages, so keep a few spare seeds as a buffer.
